HISTORY
From mansions to “Restaurant Row”
After the 1893 Silver Crash, Capitol Hill’s mansions gave way to the apartments that define North Capitol Hill today. A mid-century influx of artists and musicians set the tone, and 17th Avenue (“Restaurant Row”) remains one of the most eclectic walks in the city.
