Colorado Clean Transit Enterprise awards Denver RTD $44 million to improve transit frequency
District 10 residents will soon benefit from more frequent and extended public transit services, thanks to a $44 million grant supporting key improvements. Many routes across the Denver metro area will also benefit from increased frequency and longer service hours, including those on Broadway and Mississippi Avenue. These changes are expected to significantly increase the number of rides, ease congestion, enhance connections, and support Colorado’s air quality goals. The funding will boost transit frequency and extend hours on various key routes, making it easier for residents to travel. Services on the Flatiron Flyer between Denver and Boulder will see a significant upgrade. Residents can look forward to more convenient travel and better access to major events in the coming years.
Housing
New Denver Residence Will House At-Risk or Homeless College Students
MSU Denver and Regis students now have access to safe and stable housing thanks to a new partnership between Depaul International USA’s Dax Program, Metropolitan State University of Denver, and Regis University. The program aims to address immediate housing needs by providing accommodations for up to two years. This is crucial as many students who “couch surf” do not identify as homeless, even though they lack a stable home.
Housed in a historic brick building in Uptown, the Denver residence is one of the larger locations nationwide and can host up to 15 students. Beyond providing a roof over their heads, the Dax Program offers support services to help students stay in school and complete their studies. Impressively, 95% of participants secure permanent housing after finishing the program, and 84% continue their education or graduate. The 15-bed Denver house expands the program’s reach to about 110 students a year.

Scooter timeline: "two to four weeks" was more than 5 weeks ago
For District 10 residents, safer sidewalks are a priority, especially when it comes to scooter traffic. Chris Hinds is actively addressing this concern by pushing for the full rollout of Veo’s sidewalk detection technology. This system aims to reduce the number of scooters on sidewalks, ensuring a smoother and safer walking experience in downtown.
DOTI reported a staggering 338,620 sidewalk riding incidents over just May and June, highlighting the urgency of the issue. In response, Chris has been pressing the Department of Transportation and Infrastructure (DOTI) for a clear timeline on when residents can expect the necessary technology improvements. DOTI promised a timeline to bring Veo into compliance in “two to four weeks,” but that was more than 5 weeks ago.
Chris is committed to ensuring that DOTI delivers the promised timeline, allowing pedestrians to feel safer on our streets. Stay tuned for more updates.
