Civic Center is the district’s smallest and most downtown neighborhood: a young population, with a third in their thirties, just 17% ownership, and by far the highest median rent ($1,959).

HISTORY
Denver’s City Beautiful centerpiece
Inspired by Chicago’s 1893 World’s Fair, Mayor Robert Speer and city leaders envisioned a European-style civic core. The State Capitol (finished 1908), the Denver Mint, the City and County Building, and the Greek Theater rose around the park; in 2012 Civic Center became Denver’s first National Historic Landmark.
