Denver residents in District 10 have a chance to help shape fair hiring and promotion practices for the city’s police and fire departments by applying to serve on the Denver Civil Service Commission. This commission ensures that the best-qualified candidates are selected through a fair testing process, reflecting the diversity of our community. Chris Hinds supports this opportunity as part of ongoing efforts to promote transparency and equity in city services.
The commission handles testing for entry-level and promotional positions, oversees policy administration, and hears disciplinary appeals for classified members. Serving on the commission means playing a key role in maintaining high standards and fairness in public safety staffing.
The term for this position runs from May 1, 2026, through April 30, 2028. Applicants must be U.S. citizens. Members receive $100 per meeting and meet twice a month on the second and fourth Wednesdays at 3:00 p.m. Meetings can be attended virtually except during executive sessions.
Interested District 10 residents should submit their applications online by Sunday, March 1, 2026. For more details, visit the Denver City Council website or contact Melissa Mata at melissa.mata@denvergov.org.
